“Growing up in Nigeria, Okonkwo recognized that making a difference in the healthcare industry in Africa and around the world would require finances and governmental support. She moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue health-related degrees and certifications. Her goal as a Michael Meng fellow is to develop and run a successful business in digital health. She holds a 4.0 GPA in pursuit of a master of science degree in health policy and management; and has attained an advanced degree in public health at CUNY SPH, also with a 4.0 GPA. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Hunter, where she was on the dean’s list from Spring 2019 to Fall 2020, and received the New Jersey Food Council scholarship.
